7 Trends That I Gathered From Attending NYFW Fall 2019 Via Instagram Stories
Big sad sigh for another year that I had to click through fashion week from my couch, bed, and on my train rides, BUT, I still loved every second of it. This season’s shows were full of inspiring surprises.
FRINGE (NOT THE HAIRCUT)
I believe the abundance of fringe on the runways this season stemmed from the western-inspired styles that made a comeback in the last few months -- it all started with the cowboy boots gradually appearing on Instagram timeline feet back in the summer time.
TIE DYE, MINUS THE FINGERNAIL STAINS
I was reasonably surprised and overcome with nostalgia (I think that’s the point being made here) when I saw tie dye appearing on the bodies of the models shifting past the phone cameras held by the front-rowers this season.
MONOCHROMATIC EYE THERAPY
Monochrome has always been around when it comes to neutrals, but this season has been flooded with color. To be very specific, I saw a handful of turtlenecks paired either with matching dresses or sweaters overtop. A very big fan.
RUFFLES, SOUR CREAM & CHEDDAR
Some pretty intense Victorian vibes were spotted on multiples runways. A lot of collars, sleeves, and layers in skirts and dresses. Kind of mad that no one was carrying a feather quill.
SEQUINS AND OTHER SHINY THINGS
Another surprising one; sequins, glitter, and metallics all made very 80’s-esque cameos. Basically everyone looked like a disco ball.
OVERSIZED SUITS — WITH A BELTED WAIST
100% can get behind this one as I had been waiting to gain the courage to wear my mother’s size 10 Ann Taylor suits that she stores in my closet. This style is very effortless while remaining sophisticated and sexy.
HEAVY KNITS, SPECIFICALLY PONCHOS
Honestly, I’m very seriously considering digging up the pink pancho from Macy’s that I wore in the 4th grade. I have some new cowboy boots to sport with it as well, so things are looking up for me, as I don’t think I’m gonna have to shop much to keep up this season.
