Skinny Jeans Have Died And I Will Not Be Attending The Funeral

It was a rude awakening the day that I realized skin tight jeans weren’t the only pant shape to exist. More importantly, when I realized they were not anywhere near as flattering or cute as Hot-Topic-shopping, 13-year-old-me had always believed.

As the pedestal I had always placed my calf-hugging Levi’s on crumbled, I discovered the beautiful world of Different Pant Shapes; and I don’t think I’m the only person! Here’s a list of my favorite flattering and fun (alliteration unintended) pant shapes that have found a home in my closet:

The Mom Jean

Ok, this one is first because it’s not that recent, lol. These came back into style when American Apparel was in big business and now it’s more than common. So, here I am in my favorite pair of vintage Levi’s from the 80’s.

The Boyfriend Jean

Aaaalso not that recent, but a pair of very baggy jeans started to come in handy for me more than I expected. I don’t even wear the “boyfriend style” jeans made for women as much as I wear plain old men’s Levi’s from the thrift.

The Flare

I’m sure a lot of people are going to disagree with this, but I’ve always loved flared jeans. They look great with heels (or sneakers as pictured) and have the same shaping effect that skinny fit jeans do, but feel a lot more experimental in terms of the silhouette of your outfit.

The (Very) Wide Leg

My new found love. I was always scared that these wouldn’t be flattering, but with a high-cut waist and a short heel, they make my legs look a million miles long. They’re also super comfy and won’t make your legs hot in the summertime!
